National Plan of Action

1. To raise awareness of the issue of child abuse in The Gambia.
2. Advocate for & ensure that a review of policies and laws regarding child protection is progressed by the Government of the Gambia.
3. To lobby Government and the relevant agencies on enforcing the existing Laws and Policies of the Gambia to protect children from abuse and exploitation.
4. Share knowledge of good / best practice & issues in dealing positively with child abuse.
5. Promoting children's participation & involvement in identifying and finding solutions to their own issues and problems.
6. Promote research into child abuse & child protection issues.
7. Work with the media on developing ethical standards for reporting child abuse & on raising awareness of child protection issues.
8. Build the capacity of member organisations and others to recognise the signs of abuse, to listen and provide immediate support to children who have been abused, and to develop, collaboratively, services to meet the evolving need of children who have been exploited or abused.
